Alder Fingering is a beautifully soft fingering-weight yarn hand-dyed by Round Mountain Fibers, a woman-owned Vermont studio known for colorways inspired by the natural world. The layered, expressive colors range from subtle semisolids to richly variegated palettes, bringing depth and movement to every project.

Spun from an 8-ply blend of superwash merino and nylon, Alder Fingering combines softness with durability, making it especially well suited for socks, shawls, garments, and everyday accessories. The smooth construction gives excellent stitch definition while allowing the hand-dyed colors to shine.

The Botany Collection is dyed using a variegated method that creates a more even distribution of color that is ideal for lace and for projects where you want visual interest without heavy pooling or striping.

The Geology Collection is dyed using Round Mountain's Pop of Color method, where most of the skein is a semisolid, with a pop of colors at one end. When knit up, this yarn has bright striations of color set amongst a semi-tonal main background.
