Knit Your 1st Sweater!

Ready to knit your first sweater? We’ve got you! We'll schedule sessions once you're registered for the course. 

Join us for a supportive, beginner-friendly class where you’ll knit the Step by Step Sweater, a top-down raglan that’s approachable, customizable, and perfect for your first foray into garment knitting. Ashley & Geraldine will walk you through every stage, from choosing yarn to celebrating your finished sweater.

Whether you’re local or joining us from afar, we’ll help you select the perfect worsted-weight yarn from our shop’s many options. Once you’re set up, we’ll create a regular check-in schedule to guide you through each step of the process.

Skills you’ll learn:

Yarn Selection: Understanding fiber, drape, and yardage for a successful sweater.
Reading a Pattern: Navigating schematics, choosing a size, and decoding abbreviations.
Gauge Swatching: Making and measuring a swatch so your sweater fits the way you want it to.
Top-Down Construction: Knitting from the neckline down and trying on as you go.
Raglan Increases: Creating the shoulder shaping that defines a raglan.
Magic Loop / Circular Needles: Using one long circular needle for the neck, body, and sleeves.
Finishing Techniques: Binding off neatly, picking up stitches, weaving in ends, and blocking for a polished finish.

Required for class:
Yarn for sweater (we'll guide you through purchasing)
Circular needles in size US 6, 7, 8 or 9 depending in gauge. We'll talk you through this.
