Knit a Hat (Circular Needle Knitting)

Once you've tackled knitting rectangles, it's time to learn to knit in the round! Let's make your first hat together!

This beginner-level class will teach you the basics of how to knit in the round and you'll leave with your first completed hat.

In this 2 hour class you'll learn:

• How to cast on and join for knitting in the round.
• How to read a pattern
• How to decrease for crown of head
• How to finish off the hat and add a pom pom if desired. 

Who this class is for

• Beginner knitters who are comfortable knitting and purling and ready to learn a new skill.
  
• Anyone want to learn to knit in the round on circular needles. 
• Ages 12+ (younger knitters welcome with an adult helper)

What’s included

• One 2 hour sessions of guided instruction at gather (57 Spring Street, Williamstown, MA)
  
• A skein of Malabrigo Chunky yarn (color options here)
• Printed instructions for a simple hat

What to bring

• Size US10 or 11 16" circular knitting needles
  
• Notions (tapestry needle, small crochet hook and scissors)

Class policies

• Cancellation: Refunds not available, but credit toward a similar future class can be applied if you have to cancel.
• Minimum enrollment: We need at least 3 students to run the class. If we have to cancel, you’ll receive a full refund or credit.
