Learn to Knit with gather

Always wanted to learn to knit or picking back up? This beginner-level class will teach you the basics and you'll leave with the skills and confidence to finish your first knitted piece.

In this 2-session class, you’ll learn:

• How to cast on and bind off
• The knit stitch (and how to read your stitches)
• How to hold yarn and needles comfortably
• How to fix common beginner mistakes
• How to read a simple pattern and keep track of your rows

Who this class is for

• Absolute beginners who have never knit before
• Lapsed knitters who want a relaxed refresher
• Ages 12+ (younger knitters welcome with an adult helper)

What’s included

• Two 2 hour sessions of guided instruction at gather (temporary classroom space)
• 1 skein of yarn
• US size 10 Circular knitting needles
• Basic notions
• Printed instructions for a simple scarf

What to bring

• Yourself and willingness to learn in and be part of a welcoming environment
  

Class policies

• Cancellation: Refunds not available, but credit toward a similar future class can be applied if you have to cancel.
• Minimum enrollment: We need at least 3 students to run the class. If we have to cancel, you’ll receive a full refund or credit.
